About Susan

As your next State Senator I will continue to uplift your voices to the table and work hard toward innovative solutions that will create a place where we all can thrive, not just survive.

We have to build a better tomorrow.
That is why I am running for the State Senate.

Since serving on the Brooklyn Park City Council for the last 5 years, I’ve worked tirelessly with residents, our other council members, city staff, community stakeholders, and organizations. I’m proud of the work we have accomplished together.

Together we have:

  • Built a stronger local economy and supported small businesses to thrive
  • Created over 1000+ new jobs in our city with livable wages
  • Grown our tax base with commercial development and reduced our resident’s tax burden
  • Successfully attained millions of dollars in state and federal funds for transportation and infrastructure investment in our city
  • Increased the diversity of our housing stock, supported naturally occurring affordable housing, and added new developments of senior housing in our city
  • Improved community and police relations and created safer neighborhoods
  • Partnered with local businesses to offer paid summer internships and create more employment opportunities for our youth
  • Added sustainable youth programming and expanded access to youth sports
  • Revitalized our parks, increased trails and connections, and leveraged outside funding and grants to invest in our park system

A few things so you can get to know me…

  • Married 28 years with 4 children and a new daughter-in-law
  • Actively served and volunteered in Brooklyn Park for over 15 years.
  • I’m a published Author of 2 books
  • I love to mentor young girls, have done it for a long time, and continue to because they inspire me
  • I love organic vegetable gardening, camping with my family, and baking with my girls.

AS YOUR SENATOR I WILL STAND STRONG FOR
PUBLIC SAFETY AND IMPROVING POLICE AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS

Focusing on both public safety and building trust between law enforcement and our communities. Ensuring that everyone is treated with dignity and feels safe.

MAKING HEALTH CARE MORE AFFORDABLE

I strongly believe that everyone deserves access to affordable health care. I will fight to expand quality health care coverage to all families across Minnesota.

LIVABLE WAGES AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING

The federal minimum wage is currently $7.25 an hour and has remained unchanged since 2009 while the cost of shelter, food, clothing, and basic necessities has continually increased every year. People deserve a livable wage. We all should have the power and resources to thrive in a safe and welcoming community.

EDUCATING THE NEXT GENERATION

Our children deserve a quality education and it starts with giving our schools and teachers the support they need to educate our children.

PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT AND PRESERVING OUR NATURAL RESOURCES

I am committed to keeping our air and water clean, strengthening our conservation programs, developing energy-efficient technologies, and utilizing homegrown energy resources.

KEEPING PEOPLE SAFE AND ENSURING THAT OUR HOSPITALS AND HEALTH WORKERS HAVE WHAT THEY NEED DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC

I will continue to support vaccine distribution, increase testing capacity, and ensure that our hospitals and health workers have the resources they need to manage patient care during the pandemic.

Everyone deserves to have the power and resources to thrive in a safe and welcoming community.
